Abstract :
A five-leg inverter can be used to feed two motors, which reduce the system cost and realize fault-tolerant operation of dual motor drive system. In this paper, a PWM modulation method is developed for the five-leg inverter, in which the control period is divided into two parts and the traditional Space Vector PWM (SVPWM) technology is adopted in both parts. This PWM method is suitable to be implemented by digital signal processor (DSP). Through experiments, the developed method is proved to be effective, which realizes the independent control of the two motors in the drive system.
