Abstract
There are currently some technological measures that are able to enforce appropriate rights management technologies. In the educational field, where exceptions to copyright law, “fair use” is the main doctrine these technologies are controversial and its application has to weight the complex and contradictory pros and cons of such solutions. In this paper, we present the most important issues concerning intellectual property and the factors that affect intellectual property rights in educational field. Also we present and categorize some of the technological measures that can help against infringements on this area. Control grade versus restriction on access and usage and relationship with technological protection measures are established. A classification on usage restrictions and rights balance are also discussed having in mind the special educational field framework.
