Abstract :
This paper presents the latest results of the recent research undertaken regarding the Android client application development for online laboratories based on the iLab Shared Architecture (ISA). The current research comes after having previously developed the first Android client application for ISA, aimed at a batched laboratory. While, currently, the ultimate goal is to develop the first Android client application for an interactive laboratory, the work is directed also towards other benefits, such as a standard way of integrating Android clients into ISA and developing portable user interfaces. The benefits will be many, considering that a standardized approach will open the way for the users to develop their own Android remote laboratory clients. The paper details some of the aspects that are taken into account for developing the first interactive laboratory client for Android (batched and interactive laboratory differences, the choice of the laboratory, test applications, standardization, ergonomic and portable GUI design rules etc.).
