Abstract
The peculiarities of propagation of electromagnetic waves guided by the plane anisotropic composite slab located between two dielectric isotropic layers are analyzed. The single-axis medium with the symmetry axis oriented perpendicular to the composite slab is considered. The dispersion characteristics of forward and backward waves of TE and TH types are investigated. The parametric instability has been developed in the present of intense external time-harmonic magnetic field which is perpendicular to an interface of the media. The expression of the instability increment for both the forward and backward TE polarized surface waves are obtained. For the some practically interesting cases numerical analyses have been performed.
