Abstract
In this paper, we present a patch antenna design that uses a ferrimagnetic compound (YIG) as part of its substrate. The antenna is designed to operate in the Ku band (14 GHz). We investigate the influence of the YIG compound on the antenna characteristics under the application of an external magnetic field parallel to the antenna surface. It was found that the proper application of the magnetic field generates broadband characteristics to the antenna and changes the polarization from linear to circular, while it maintains adequate efficiency and gain values of the antenna.
