Abstract
This paper presents the description of a photovoltaic system as electric power source for water pumping. In order to improve the system performance, it is used a technique to reach the maximum power point (MPP) through the analysis of the short circuit current of the photovoltaic panels. In this study were analyzed two kinds of controllers to find the optimum operating frequency to drive the induction motor: the classic PI; and the fuzzy. The system has been studied including the effects of temperature and the solar radiation intensity. The results of the simulation have shown the viability of the system proposed.
