Abstract
Theory was developed and experiments were conducted on generation of the pulsed intense streams of negative ions in high-current coaxial diode with magnetic insulation: U=500−700 kV, Ie =10−20 kA, τ=50 ns, Bo =15 kGs. The surface discharge of a dielectric layer on the cathode rod was used to create plasma. Registration of ions was conducted by nuclear, electric and magnetic methods. Near the Langmuir limiting H− currents 1.5–5.0 kA were obtained and the current density ≃ 10 A/cm2.
