Abstract :
In this study, stamped base with cold rolled steel plate was suggested for 2.5 inch hard disk drive (HDD). The stamped base has some benefits on the cost, manufacturing and thin form factor. On the other hand, low stiffness was expected because of sheet metal structure. Therefore, possibility of stamped base for 2.5 inch HDD was investigated in the view points of manufacturing process and dynamic characteristics.
