Abstract
Thermal stability is an important issue for MR heads. This work presents an investigation on effects internal, Dynamic Fly Height (DFH) and external heat upon FMR characteristic of TMR heads. The experiment results illustrated that there are different FMR characteristics between the external heat and the internal heat or DFH heat attack on TMR heads. These differences can benefit identification of the cause of thermal instability of TMR head in the production line.
