Abstract :
The application of Factor Graphs and the Sum Product algorithm to a 1D ISI magnetic recording channel gives rise to a new turbo equalization system that is less complex than a conventional system. It is a stepping stone towards designing a joint detector-decoder that could out-perform current state of the art iterative schemes.
