Abstract :
This paper considers robust controller design for hard disk drives with irregular sampling of the position error signal but regular control updates. The controller design is performed using optimal H∞ control for periodic systems. The design methodology was applied to a hard drive model and the resulting controller was validated by examining its nominal performance and robust stability.
