Abstract :
Rarefied gas lubrication of slider bearings in micro-size has been analyzed with a modified Navier-Stokes (NS) equation. Calculation results are compared with those obtained with the Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) method. It is shown that both the DSMC method and the modified NS equation can be used to deal with the problem with bump contacts.
