Abstract
A low cost instrumentation system has been proposed in this paper to determine the stability of dental implants. For this purpose, Resonance Frequency Analysis technique has been used to monitor the changes in resonance frequency that takes place during the bonding of the dental implant with the surrounding bones and tissues [1]. In the present work, the designed instrumentation system has been characterized and its performance validated in in-vitro experiments. From this study, it is observed that the instrumentation system developed can be used for determining stability of dental implants. There is, however, scope for improvements in terms of the resolution and the real-time performance of the system.
