Abstract
This paper addresses the topic of frequency resolution improvement which appears when computing discrete signal spectra. Existing methods are presented and their drawbacks are pointed out. The proposed algorithm combines signal downsampling and zero-padding and overcomes the disadvantages of the classical methods. The simulations show that resolution enhancement is possible with the proposed method, and that it can be used in frequency estimation.
