Abstract
This paper presents two kinds of dual-band power amplifier matching networks, which using three-section microstrip line. Based on the analysis of transmission line theory, two matching networks used in dual-band amplifier are introduced: Multi-section Transmission Line (MSTL) and Open Stub Transmission Line (OSTL). After a series of calculations and simulation, those two structures have been successfully designed. In order to prove that the structures are applicable to the dual-band power amplifier, a dual-band power amplifier using those structures is proposed. Based on experimental results, the amplifier, which works at 915MHz and 2140MHz, achieves efficiency of more than 60%. When input power is 30dBm, with output of 46dBm, the gain compressed is 1.8dB at 2140HMz and 2.2dB at 915HMz.
