Abstract
Wireless networks are ubiquitous and find their applications in various fields. The applications of wireless networks are not only limited to sensor network applications and critical military applications but also aids our daily routines like home and industrial automation. Today we see a lot of technical exhibitions, conferences and other such large gathering happening all over the world, which help people to extend their social connectivity. Exchanging printed business cards is a conventional method of sharing contact information at such events. Here we propose the concept of Wireless Smart Badge: a cost effective wireless solution mainly intended for conferences and exhibitions. In this paper we describe the design and implementation of Wireless Smart Badge based on IEEE 802.15.4 Low rate Wireless Personal Area Network (LoWPAN) protocol. It replaces business cards used to share and manage the professional information of people with common interest.
