Abstract
Our project of designing and realization of low-cost FSO system is based on modified RONJA project. The goal was to design low-cost FSO system with several specific features and modifications for remote monitoring and diagnostic of the whole FSO system and its parameters. The mechanical improvements concern mainly constructional parameters, mechanical fixing system for aiming and focusing the optical beam, internal heating of lenses, external powering and data connection etc. The firmware for controlling the whole system can be uploaded remotely, therefore it is possible to upgrade the system further in the future. The paper also describes practical remarks and experiences concerning installation and operation of the whole system together with photos and documentation. The graphical interface of the diagnostic and control system was designed to be clear and simple and to contain only the most important functions. The diagnostic and remote functions are still under the development; however, several measured results and practical experience were already obtained and will be presented in this article.
