Abstract :
A 60 GHz on-chip dipole antenna with differential feed integrated in a 65 nm CMOS technology is investigated by simulation and measurement. A GSSG pad on the chip, as well as the whole chip, is modeled in the simulation. Good agreement of frequency characteristic of S-parameters is observed between simulation and measurement, which enables further investigation by simulation. The simulated radiation efficiency was 3.4 % at 60 GHz. The reason of the degraded radiation efficiency can be estimated to be the existence of the lossy layer on the surface of a silicon chip.
