Abstract
A through comparison of the Interior Permanent Magnet (IPM) and Surface mounted Permanent Magnet (SPM) type Brushless DC Motor (BLDCM) performance under Inter-Turn Fault (ITF) condition, proving which model is more preventable in the ITF condition. In order to confirm these configurations, we have compared factor of ITF due to vibration source and electromagnetic characteristics such as cogging torque, Back Electro Motive Force (BEMF), and air-gap flux density. In addition, a rate of torque ripple increase, a rate of input current increase and a rate of circulating current change have also compared.
