Abstract :
In order to overcome the insufficiency of traditional polarimetric filtering algorithms on polarimetric scattering characteristic preservation, the polarimetric scattering similarity (PSS) is explored and used in filtering the polarimetric SAR imagery. In the letter, an improvement of Lee filter is designed and measured. To preserve the polarimetric scattering characteristics of the different targets in the imagery, PSS value is referred as a standard to extract the homogenous areas to filter the central pixel. Meanwhile, an adaptive slipping window is designed to find the homogenous areas in the neighborhood of the central pixel. With this method, the polarimetric scattering characteristic can be well kept during the polarimetric filtering process.
