Abstract :
This paper presents an average current control technique with an asymmetric bridgeless topology for a 2.5 kW front-end unity power factor rectifier. This rectifier is based on the boost power factor correction scheme and aims to reduce conductive loss while maintaining unity power factor for all practical purposes. This converter operates independent of the nature of load, hence has very high demand in the industry. A brief literature review is also presented to show the recent advances in the field. The simulation results are presented and discussed showing the advantages of this scheme. A hardware model was developed to show its effectiveness.
