Abstract
Wind energy, being a clean and renewable source, is becoming more popular day-by-day. Wind energy is also economical and feasible in areas where electricity is not available due to high cost of distribution. The main disadvantage of wind power has been its unreliable nature which results in load mismatching. So an energy storage device is needed. Variable nature of wind results in variable voltage and variable frequency at generator. So an AC-DC-AC link is required. In this paper, we have proposed a simulation of wind energy conversion system (WECS) using a variable speed permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) with battery as an energy storage device for an isolated load to prevent load mismatching.
