  • Abstract
For low degrees of partial coherence soliton fission-based dynamics rather than modulation instability are shown to be the driver of continuous-wave supercontinuum generation. Intensity fluctuations can be described in terms of an effective soliton order, and an optimum degree of partial pump coherence for strong fission evolution is outlined.
