Abstract
The impact of truncation on linear arrays with dual-band patch radiators with frequency ratios close to an octave is analysed. The analysis makes use of full-wave solver results and is based on the variation of the active impedance with scan. It is found that maintaining array lengths of at least 8λ and 6λ (at the lowest operational frequency) respectively for the E- and H-plane linear arrays helps in achieving convergence with the infinite array case and to capture edge effects adequately. These findings have been devised from the study of a dual-band patch radiator with a frequency ratio of 1.86:1.
