Abstract :
A fully-planar extended-composite right/left handed transmission line (E-CRLH TL) implemented in substrate integrated waveguide technology (SIW) is presented for the first time. The behavior of these lines is explained by considering the lumped element equivalent circuit model. The potential of these lines for multi-band applications is demonstrated by designing and fabricating a quad-band Y-junction power divider. The main advantages of SIW-based E-CRLH TLs are their design simplicity (only a single layer with interdigital capacitors is required), their high-Q factor, and their potential operability up to the millimeter-wave region.
