Abstract :
This paper builds a model with the partial least-squares(PLS) regression analysis method to estimate area rainfall distribution in which geography and terrain factors are taken into account. The results indicate that the estimated area rainfall distribution with PLS regression in Yangtze river basin correctly replicates real spatial distribution of precipitation qualitatively and quantitatively. Geographic and topographic factors on area rainfall distribution have significant influences. Different terrain conditions on the effect of precipitation each are not identical, and the precipitation of different seasons varies a lot. Area rainfall distribution of complex terrain is quite different.
