Abstract :
A 60-GHz LC oscillator implemented in 65nm CMOS technology by ST-Microelectronics is presented. A three spiral transformer has been used to achieve low phase noise and low power consumption. Post-layout simulations show that the oscillator core is capable to operate with a supply voltage as low as 0.4 V, while dissipating 1.42 mW. Post-layout simulated phase noise is equal to -87dBc/Hz at 1-MHz offset from the carrier (60.44 GHz) when supplied with 0.4 V, and -93dBc/Hz at 1-MHz offset from the carrier (61.41 GHz) when supplied at 1.2 V.
