  • Abstract
    Hydrothermal Dispatching is a large-scale non-linear optimization problem. Its solution implies huge savings in fuel costs for power companies. This paper presents a direct solution to the hydrothermal dispatching problem in the case of one hydro-pumped storage plant with unlimited reservoir capacity to be coordinated with a set of thermal units. A detailed explanation of the procedure, a numerical example and comments on how this solution would scale for systems including several hydro units are provided.
