Abstract
The information-centric communication in the future internet requires the design of a scalable name resolution system. A fundamental challenge is to improve the name resolution performance by approximating resolvers to the requesters worldwide. This paper proposes mhDHT (multi-hashing Distributed Hash Table), a DHT-based name resolution system that addresses this challenge. Given an object name, mhDHT stores the name-to-locator mappings in multiple resolvers nodes. To resolve a name to its locator, a requester can then select the nearest node. A performance study of the mhDHT provides evidence that it is feasible with todays internet technology.
