Abstract :
In this paper, broadband sound propagation in shallow water environments is studied. Fourier synthesis method of frequency-domain solutions is selected to do the simulation of time-series. The frequency-domain calculations in Pekeris waveguide are carried out by normal mode model KRAKEN. To improve the computational efficiency, parallel computing of KRAKEN is implemented based on MPI (Message Passing Interface) environment. And the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) part of Fourier synthesis is performed using CUDA (Compute Unified Device Architecture). Evaluation shows that parallel programming of Fourier synthesis saves run-time effectively. Then, a more realistic shallow water environment involving elastic bottom is taken into consideration. Simulations present that the propagation of a broadband pulse in shallow water environments is strongly affected by the elastic parameters of the ocean bottom. The modal arrival structures are analyzed for all cases. And the dispersion characteristics are exhibited by simulation results.
