Abstract :
The two-dimensional problem of an impermeable circular-arc crack in an infinite electrostrictive solid subjected to pure electric loads at infinity is investigated. Based on Muskhelisvili´s theory, explicit solutions are obtained for an impermeable crack by taking Maxwell stress and electrical body force into account. The model used in this paper shows that there is more than one singularity in pseudo total stress at the crack tip. In addition, numerical results are given to discuss the effects of electric field and central angle on the stress intensity factor.
