Abstract :
In this work, we present a prototype of intelligent video surveillance system which we have developed based on Browser/Server(B/S) architecture. The system is composed of the server side and the browser side. The former performs real-time data acquisition from multiple cameras, intelligent motion detection from videos, selective archiving of motion-rich video segments and encoding and transmission of videos; the latter is implemented with ActiveX technology for internet browsers, receiving, decoding and displaying the live video transmitted from the server in real time. The most distinctive features of our system include automatic server-side motion detection, intelligent server-side data archiving and management, bandwidth efficient video coding and transmission and web browser based user interface.
