Abstract :
Plug-in Electric Vehicles (PEVs) are set to take a large share of the automobile market. While Grid to Vehicle (G2V) and Vehicle to Grid (V2G) is going to be a key feature of future smart grid, their penetration levels may bring potential challenges to the electric utility especially at the distribution level. The government incentive schemes around the World combined with feed-in tariffs has encouraged and continues to encourage large scale penetration of roof top PV generation. Their local generation within the low voltage networks has both positive and negative impacts on the networks. In this paper, the impact of experimental results from roof top PV generation and simulated charging PEVs on a low voltage distribution transformer under different charging scenarios using a DIgSILENT Power Factory network model is presented. Results show that while there are no significant improvement of After Diversity Maximum Demand (ADMD) significant impact on ageing of distribution transformer is possible.
