Abstract :
Pune, the host city of 2013 VLSI Design Conference, has seen tremendous semiconductor and industrial growth over the past decade and is a center of cultural activities, professional athletics, world-reknown universities, and many multinational companies. The Peshwa rulers of the great Maratha Empire ruled all of India from Pune, their capital city. Ajanta and Ellora caves situated a few hours from Pune are designated as UNESCO World Heritage sites. Seated Buddha statues (circa 8th century CE) of cave 12 at the rock-cut temple in Ellora, India adorn the cover page of the VLSID 2013 proceedings. Let us pause for a moment, reminisce in ancient history and architecture before we spur on the next generation state-of-the-art VLSI technologies. A photo of the Seated Buddha statues at the rock-cut temple in Ellora, Maharashtra, India (circa 8th century CE) is also presented.
