Abstract
Fixed and wireless convergence service environment is generating a huge amount of traffic, fostering the evolution of the optical network capacity and reach. The greatest portion in the traffic increase is occupied by the video traffic. In order to deal with the traffic increase and improve the network profitability, optical network is evolving towards the smart network. This paper explains about the concept and the direction of the fiber based smart network deployment in Korea.
