Abstract :
We are currently developing towed marine electromagnetic systems with low power consumption and high sensitivity to investigate a variety of targets with a high resolution and down to some tens of meters in the marine substratum. The systems combine a DC and AC (in time domain) data logger in a streamer including a strong current source. The first electromagnetic imaging streamer system developed is based on DC injection and is used to study various marine littoral environments. The results obtained are now leading to new developments in the capabilities of the instrument, increasing the injected current and improving navigation of the system. Furthermore, we are now developing an AC version of the system for enhanced resolution and penetration, besides higher capabilities at detecting small buried objects.
