Abstract
In this paper, the Finite Control Set Model Predictive Control (FCS-MPC) is used to control a three phase Neutral Point Clamped multi-level converter to act as a shunt active power filter to improve the power quality. The reference value of compensation current is computed through p-q theory. A linear predictor in parallel with a repetitive error compensator is proposed to predict the load voltage and current two steps ahead. These predictions are used to estimate the reference current two steps ahead which is needed in FCS-MPC algorithm. Simulations indicate the effectiveness of this method to reduce the total harmonic distortion of source current produced by the nonlinear load.
