Abstract :
This paper presents a forward-type micro-inverter with power decoupling to eliminate the usage of electrolytic capacitors. Different to the conventional inverter, the small film capacitor is put at input terminal of the proposed micro-inverter, and an active power decoupling circuit (APDC) is inserted. With the APDC, the PV panel output power could remain constant, and good maximum power point tracking (MPPT) performance can be obtained. The reliability of the proposed micro-inverter can be increased by eliminating the usage of electrolytic capacitors. Low component stress and low energy loss can be achieved because of the continuous conduction mode (CCM) and magnetizing energy recycling. In this paper, the operation principle and the control strategy of the proposed micro-inverter will be introduced clearly, and the simulation results will show the performance of the prototype micro-inverter. Finally, experimental results of a 102W prototype verify the performance of the proposed micro-inverter.
