  • Abstract
This paper describes the conceptual design of a platform for enabling the creation of adaptive social exergames with both physical actions and reactions. In a few words, the designed platform promotes social physical games played with a ball. These games are able to adapt themselves to the level of the players who are playing at each moment. An interactive surface is used as the catalyst of adaptation. The surface can be placed on a wall (vertical) or on the floor (horizontal). Games can be played with either a racket or the hand, and they can be played by one or several players. The proposed approach is intended to promote a better style of life in two senses. On the one hand, it promotes physical games as a healthier kind of activity when compared to traditional videogames which are more sedentary. On the other hand, it promotes socialization (versus competitiveness) through the adaptation process.
