  • Abstract
This paper considers the analysis and setting of harmonic distortion emission limits for the connection of an offshore wind farm considering the complexity introduced by other connections to the same electrical node. It goes on to present overall results following the design and inclusion of a harmonic filter in order to comply with the given emission limits. The paper demonstrates the importance of a two way communication and understanding between the utility and the wind farm developer. This is particularly important, as initially the limits given to the developer are the maximum calculated harmonic voltage distortions expected after the connection and may not be all of the available harmonic distortion headroom. Following the design of the filter and the subsequent analysis with respect to achievable distortion levels with the filter, initial emission limits are revised to reflect the optimum design which may utilize some of the available headroom not provided earlier.
