Abstract
Various maintenance policies can be implemented in the electric power systems in order to ensure satisfactory component and system reliability performance by reducing significantly the frequency of service interruptions and the magnitude of their undesirable consequences. The purpose of this paper is to present the main features of the Reliability Centered Maintenance programs that incorporate predictive maintenance approaches. A special attention is given to the Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis which can be used as an appropriate tool in order to provide useful information for implementing such maintenance procedures for the various components of the electric power systems.
