Abstract
In this paper an analysis of the costs of Grid Connection of renewable energy plants in Greece is performed. The analysis is limited to wind power and photovoltaic plants, as they represent the large majority of RES plants currently installed in Greece in order to meet the national targets of 20-2020 by year 2020. The analysis is based on ex-ante information available in connection offers provided to RES generators by the competent grid operators; it includes the following categories: (a) wind energy plants to be connected to the transmission system and to be installed on the mainland, on interconnected islands and on non-interconnected islands and (b) photovoltaic plants to be installed on the mainland and to be connected to the transmission or distribution system.
