Abstract
In a wireless environment, broadcast has often been used to disseminate frequently requested data efficiently to a large number of mobile devices over single or multiple channels. Since the bandwidth of the channels and the energy of the portable devices are limited, the minimization of the access and tuning times for the broadcast data is one of the important issues. There have been many research efforts over the time which focus on minimizing access and tuning times by providing indexes along with the data on the broadcast channels. In this paper, the problem for generating a broadcast sequence of a set of data items on multiple channels is explored. By increasing the number broadcast channels is a logical way to decrease the access and tuning time. In our approach, we propose allocating index information and data items on multiple broadcast channels by extending the distributed indexing approach for full-text search. The result shows that our approach out performs the existing approach.
