Abstract :
A coplanar wave guide feed monopole ultrawideband antenna with a wide band frequency notch is proposed in this paper. A vertically aligned simple rectangular slot in the radiating patch is used to have a frequency notch filter in X-band to reject the down link band (7.25 - 7.75 GHz) of satellite communication. Antenna uses a pentagonal radiating patch with two staircase shaped stub and tapered ground near feed to match the impedance 50Ω. The antenna without notch band gives 10 dB impedance bandwidth 7.55 GHz (2.83-10.38GHz) and with notch, the VSWR≤ 2 bandwidth of generated dual UWB band is 4.49 GHz (2.76-7.25 GHz) and 2.86 (10.83-7.96 GHz) respectively. The dimensions of proposed antenna are 32 mm × 22 mm × 1.6 mm and its prototype is fabricated on FR4 substrate with εr = 4.3. The measured results are shown to be in good agreement with the simulated results.
