Abstract
A substation feeds many types of customers. These customers can be split into Domestic/Residential and “other” consumers. These consumers have generalized load profiles. If one can identify the prominent load profile of a substation, one can identify the bulk consumer in the mixed load profile of the given substation. In this paper an automated method to group substation by its bulk consumer type is proposed and investigated. The automated method uses a Complete Agglomerative Hierarchical Clustering. The overall municipal load profile is used as an exemplary load profile for a large count of aggregated Domestic consumers. Results of this method are checked to validate the results and conclusions made.
