Abstract :
This paper proposed a new image wavelet packet coding algorithm based on subbands edge active measure (SEAM). Firstly the degree of edges and textures in high frequency of subbands wavelet decomposition is measured and classified by SEAM, and the SEAM is used as the wavelet packet best basis selection function, the similarity of wavelet coefficient in high frequency subbands are strengthened, during the SEAM is reduced in the WP decomposition process. The core coding algorithm is based on SPECK which collected the wavelet coefficient with the block-based method. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the baseline SPECK algorithm in term of PSNR, and the time complexity is lower.
