Abstract :
This paper presents an intuitive, user friendly software tool for microwave filter design. Microwave filters find widespread usage in several fields such as communication and medicine. A key advantage of these filters is their small size and portability, which make them best suited for these applications. However, the small size of these filters entails its own design complexities and accurate fabrication is required to achieve the required performance. The tool allows different types of filters to be designed, with the frequency response as required by the designer. The tool accepts the performance parameters of the filter and generates the complete filter layout along with the frequency response and lumped element circuit. Further, the graphical user interface of the tool aids teaching, facilitates self-learning and helps to design filter layouts for non-commercial users.
