Abstract :
In this present study, a nano-MnO2/graphene based cathode was prepared and its characteristics were studied for Mg/MnO2 primary battery applications. A modified magnesium/manganese dioxide (Mg/MnO2) with graphene primary cell was investigated using the prepared MnO2-graphene nanoparticles and conventional MnO2 system. The storage capacity and energy density of the nano-MnO2-graphene based cathode materials increased respectively, from 2.6 to 7.5 mAh g-1 and 3.5 to 10 Wh kg-1. The discharge time of nano-MnO2/graphene based cathode increased to approximately 5200 s than that of conventional micron-MnO2-based cathode. Thus, this study opens up a new approach to use MnO2/graphene nanoparticles as a cathode material for magnesium primary batteries in future.
