Abstract :
The railway communication system of Korea is almost the wired system. The parts using the wireless network are only the partial functions of the train operation management. In addition, as the communication methods are not unified, the network is being operated ineffectively. For these reasons the government organization, the research institutes and the enterprises related in railways are seeking the various methods to implement the integrated wireless network for railways in Korea. The organizations are also trying to acquire the necessary frequency to implement the network. This paper introduces the current status of the railways communication network in Korea and overseas. Next, we analyze the problems for the network to explain the necessity of the network. We explain the necessity and the economic expected effects of the network go together.
