Abstract :
This paper describes a cavity-backed slot antenna (CBSA) intended for integration with a cuboidal housing of a wireless ground sensor used for road and off-road traffic monitoring in the ISM 2.4GHz band. The antenna consists of an open rectangular cavity, which is made of thin copper sheet, and two PCBs with a slot and a feed line. The proposed antenna structure has 6.2% bandwidth at VSWR<;1.5, and its half power beamwidth approaches 90 deg. It makes the proposed antenna an ideal candidate for a cuboid antenna array, which can be easily integrated with a wireless ground sensor.
